Charming. Empathic. Lively.
Velothi are a noble, long-lived people capable of forming intense emotional and physical bonds with members of other species. Unfortunately, their beauty, kindness, and lack of technological sophistication made them easy prey for the Tarreen Empire, who forcibly dragged the Velothi from their original homeworld.
The Velothi endured centuries of subjugation until they were freed by the Seraph during her rebellion. But even when the last Tarreen ship retreated to the fringes of the galaxy, most Velothi found they had nowhere to go. Many remained enslaved by the murderous gangs of the infamous Maw Colonies, while others found themselves treated as second- or even third-class citizens in Dominion space.
Because of this hardship, the Velothi who accompanied the Expansionary Fleet were eager to start anew and make their own history. Over the centuries, they have founded numerous colonies in the Tartarus Cluster, the most famous of which is Ramanis, a wealthy commerce planet run by Velothi-owned corporations with many jump corridors connecting to other sectors. However, most Velothi still live as laborers or servants if not outright slaves—sometimes even to their own kind. Velothi who have found fortune and success have proven just as capable of ruthless exploitation as their oppressors in the past.
Over centuries of subjugation and slavery, Velothi culture and history have been almost completely obliterated. More than any other species, they have been forced to adopt the customs of other races, especially humans. In the early days of the fleet, the only Velothi with any power were those who became concubines of powerful fleet officers.
All Velothi are female. They are capable of forming a permanent bond with a lover through a process called “Imprinting,” which allows them to produce more Velothi offspring with most species.
